Why We Had a Minimum Service Fee
Until now, GlobalAssist applied a minimum service fee of 7 € or 7 $. The idea was simple: every booking requires effort, and the fee ensured that very small bookings were still worth handling. Without it, a short trip or small delivery could leave us earning almost nothing.
Why We Decided to Remove It
Over time we saw that this rule caused problems. Our booking verification system struggled when bundle bookings were split into individual bookings, because the minimum fee suddenly appeared where it did not belong. This made prices inconsistent and created unnecessary complexity. The simplest solution was to remove the minimum fee entirely.
Another reason was customer feedback. In many cases, people wanted to book small services like food delivery, package pickups, or short transfers, but rejected the price because the minimum fee made it too expensive. For locals in particular, adding 7 $ on top of a small service could even double the cost. Removing this barrier makes our service fairer and more attractive.
Examples Where It Makes a Difference
- Food delivery: A pizza or snack order will no longer carry a disproportionate extra fee.
- Package pickup: For local customers collecting parcels, the service is now priced more realistically.
- Airport transfers: Short transfers often compete with hotel shuttles. Our new pricing makes us more competitive, especially for distances under 28 €/$.
The Trade-Off
Yes, we will earn less on small bookings. But we believe the increased number of these bookings will more than make up for it. New customers who try GlobalAssist for a small service may return again and again, increasing their lifetime value. Simplicity in pricing also means fewer errors, less friction in bundle bookings, and a smoother system for our Booking Managers and partners.
Looking Ahead
This change makes GlobalAssist more attractive not only for big tours and travel services, but also for everyday needs like groceries, snacks, and quick deliveries. It supports our mission to improve daily life in the Global South for everyone involved: our Booking Managers, our partners, and our customers. We are excited to see how this step will increase usage, expand opportunities, and strengthen our community.
